Que pasa, perro?

Loosely translated, and inserting accents where needed, it says, "What's up, dog?" That was surprisingly hard to write, considering my finger kept on missing the coveted comma key. And just about every other key on the keyboard. Thank goodness for the backspace key.

ANYWAYS, let's get to the good stuff. It's July, and I didn't post once in June, and that... is not really a horrible crime. It either means that I'm lazy or that I was busy. Probably both. But that doesn't mean that this is going to be a long post. Well, it might be... we're finding out at the same time here. I don't (usually) plan this kind of stuff out.

Okay, first we have a picture that I promised to show y'all a long time ago.

Click on it to make it better. And by better, I mean bigger, because bigger's better, right? Anyways, this masterpiece was put together in Adobe Photoshop. I drew the outlines, then went online to search for a photo of a material that I figured would work well within the outline, and one that would represent what should fill in the outline best. Believe it or not, I think that the searching took a longer time than anything else.

Okay, now for something completely different. Well, not really, considering that what happens next in this post is completely related to the universe (or Omniverse) from which the two characters above originate. I'm sure that most of those who know me personally knows that I have a massive world inside my head, one with sevreal characters, huge plotlines, galaxies and planets and moons, races, organizations, and more. Well, that began in late 2005 (I think), with a species called the Jij. The emerald guy (who's named Emerald, BTW - this is where you say "I see what you did there") is a non-typical example of a Jij. Non-typical because not all Jij have crystalline arms, antenna, and feet. Also, another thing - they are not Pikachu. I can't tell you how many times I've been asked, "Is that a Pikachu?" No, it isn't. Pikachu are yellow, have lightning bolt tails, and red pouches on their cheeks. Some Jij may be yellow, but that's where the resemblance ends.

Oh, tangents. Back to the original equation here. As I was explaining, the universe pretty much started with the creation of the Jij back in late 2005. From there, the universe only grew, and grew, and grew. It grew so large that I couldn't sum it all up into a collective story from the viewpoint of the primary character, Zips the Jij (I was twelve when I named him, and I don't plan on changing many names). I cut down the storyline quite a bit, but it still wasn't enough. So I decided to do something else.

This is when we catch up with modern life. I decided to write a comic series from the viewpoint of two characters within the universe being thrust into the universe of political intrigue, inter-dimensional war, danger, and paradoxes. I'm liking it pretty well so far, and my brothers and cousins are seeming to enjoy it. I might actually market it, but I'm kinda doubtful. I think that the plot is working out pretty well, and there's so much I want to put in.

It seems that this post would've been better named "Creation Spree", because I'm now going to tell you about my books that I'm either planning and/or writing.

First is a science-fiction novel. I've planned it out pretty deeply. I have three alien races planned out (and that's it - two of them are pretty much extinct, and at the hand of the third race), three years worth of backstory for one of my characters, a cult, a Confederacy-like group, the major force of good, a corrupt business, and an underground smuggling/mercenary/assassin group. And do you know what? I think it needs more worldbuilding. Here's a Wikipedia article for you to read in order to find out more about it, if you want: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worldbuilding. It's my hobby. Don't worry, I also have a plotline for this world, but I need more worldbuilding to be done in order to flesh it out. A tentative title: "Sigma," though in the end, I'm probably going to choose something else.

Second (and last) is a fantasy novel. I've got some magic systems planned out, an entire map drawn (throwing humility aside, my dad thought it was done by a professional - no lies, as we know where liars go), and a few charaters and some worldbuiling done. It's going to be a big world when I'm done with it.

Truth or Dare Time!

Okay, take a look at the poll at the top of the page. Yes, THAT poll. I want y'all (like my southern accent? Yeah, that was a good tangent...) to actually VOTE on THAT thing so I can KNOW if the WIKIPEDIA articles I put UP on the BLOG are really GETTING click-ED. Depending on the results, I may stop bothering y'all (there it is again) with Wiki articles. That's the truth and the dare, all jumbled up into one lousy paragraph. Now, onto your regularly scheduled programming giving you details on my life. Yes, this blog is about my life, not random Wiki articles that y'all probably could care less about. Actually, take a look at BOTH polls. And FYI, I'm writing this before I even put up the polls, and I don't wanna go back and edit this thing so that it makes complete sense at first glance. Kinda like Inception, right? ...Yeah, I know it's not at all like that.

About that major revision... it's not all that big, just a background change. The background will be awesome (I hope). Hand drawn, scanned, then run over by Adobe Illustrator. That takes a lot of time... and flashdrive memory.

Okay, now I'm really goigng to talk about my life. I gave a lesson today in Priests quorum, and it went off pretty well, I believe. And AP Physics, as usual... well, actually, it ain't killing me no more. On the last test, which was about electric potential, electric fields, and other electricity stuff, I tied for the highest score in the class... at 71%. Physics keeps us alive, and it also kills us.

And, if you want to find out how mush of a nerd I really am... nah, I'll tell you when it actually happens.

And my Eagle project... it's still getting worked on. As in, I'm still trying to get it approved. Oh well, at least I got my revised draft of my short science fiction story into the school's Literary/Art Magazine. I like it quite a bit, but if I could, I'd send it in under my pen-name. And for the sake of avoiding fame, I'm not going to tell you what it is. After all, "The Internet is forever," says the wise Ferb Flynn-Fletcher of Phineas and Ferb. Of course, Phineas does say, right before that, that "Fame is fleeting" or something like that. Don't fully trust me whenever I quote something.

Oh yes, one last thing. I'm working again on my science fiction novel, and now I'm onto the seventh version now.

Massive Revision

Well, I think that I might be revising the blogspace soon. And by that, I mean custom background - a sketch of mine that I just scanned and am about to put through to Adobe Illustrator CS4.

Wikipedia Article of the Week: Eagle Scout

Whoa, wait, what? It's really been over a month since I last posted? ...No surprise. I get bored of Wikipedia Articles too. But this week, I'm tying it in with one of the next major events of my life: the long-awaited, hard-earned Eagle Scout (project write-up). Ugh, it's one long process, somebody you telling to put something in then telling you to pull it out and more. Before I rant, here is the article:

Anyways, back to my rant (or whatever you want to call it). My plan for this whole deal is to make blankets and birthday kits for the Salvation Army here in Idaho. We already have the fleece for the blankets, even though the project hasn't been approved. Why, you may ask? Easy. It was on sale, and we saved about $300. (The hopefully final draft of the project just finished printing.) But once this thing gets approved - I will be incredibly happy.

Now, on to my other lives: I plan on taking the Driving Test real soon. I went to Horseshoe Bend (strange name, small town - the Church building there is about twice the size of my Seminary Building. No Cultural Hall, it would seem) with my Dad and Grandpa, ate lunch at this incredible restaurant (the hamburgers there are always a 1/2 pounder) then drove back to the valley, where I proceeded to waste my time playing video games, eating dinner, and watching some Indiana Jones with the family - for a little bit.

Life #2: School has reached a new Semester, and I love it more than last semester 100 fold. I no longer have Health - that class is demonic, I could've passed the final without taking the class, etc. - and instead, I have creative writing. I'm happy about that. Also, in my seminary class, three of my friends are in there, and I've already made another. And in Spanish, one of my seminary friends is in that class, as is my brother, The Blue Knight of How (or the Gibs of Earth, for those of you familiar with his blog - see the post titled "Advertising" to check it out if you want), and other friends. English, with Kohlmeier, is pretty incredible - we're going over argument now - and I'm quite happy with this semester. Not too many hard classes in one day - its a prefect 1:1 ratio of hard to easy classes each day.

Wikipedia Article of the Week #12 And a Slight Dilemma

Wikipedia Article of the Week #11

So... yeah... the most exciting thing that happened last week was that I got a 95 on my math quiz, a war started in my bro's debate class, and I learned some memes. What is this I don't even.

That was a meme, just so you know. Here are some more: "How I shoot web?" and "Do a barrel roll!" and "All your base are belong to us" and "You require additional pylons".

My Wikipedia article this week is NOT about memes (Surprised? I thought so - they're just brain spam. Not worth an article on the Wiki, though they do have them), but instead about that jolly, old elf, Santa Claus, Kris Kringle, Saint Nick, and whatever name you want to choose. Here it is:

Wikipedia Article of the Week #9 and Some Stats

So, other than Thanksgiving having come and gone ands the discouraging lack of leftovers a few days later (we, luckily enough, still have another tub of potatoes), not much has happened other than the fact that I went skiing on Friday.

Looking back at last week's WAoW (the abbreviation of Wikipedia Article of the Week), I realized that I didn't do what I should've done. When it was around Halloween, as you all may remember, I did an article about Halloween. So, naturally, last time, i should have done Thanksgiving, but I didn't. Well, to compensate you, here is this week's article:

All in all, that's about 60 international visits. That's pretty cool, if I do say so myself.

One last thing that I learned while typing this post: typing with a finger that has a band-aid on it from peeling potatoes is very difficult.

More Than Your Average Eighth Wikipedia Article of the Week

Well, well, well. Another week has come and gone, and that means yet another post. But guess what! I was wrong last week. This post is actually going to be VERY interesting, with viruses, computer errors, and some more.

Alrighty then, to get this out of the way, here's the Wikipedia Article of the Week. So, to coincide with my aforementioned virus, today, I was too sick to go to church. So, I watched BYU TV all day long. I saw one and a half hours of Music and the Spoken Word, The Generations Project, and an episode of LDS Lives. I actually got this from one of my friends. Computers can be so funny when they think that they're smarter than you when it comes to grammar. As my computer-centralized uncle said (or says): "The computer is only as smart as the person who programs it." Too true, too true.

Okay, now this one was found by me. Well, my mom saw it before me, but I was the one who recorded this. "The following pages have become unresponsive... kill them." I didn't know that there were internet hit-lists. I guess we learn something new every day, or cada dia for you speakers of Spanish.

Wikipedia Article of the Week #7

Okay, this week's been too busy for me to gather up an interesting post idea. Maybe, once I leave home in f(x) amount of years, I'll be able to create more interesting posts more often. So, here it is, the seventh article of the week.

Actually, never mind that earlier portion of the post: something interesting is occurring here. There's this woodpecker in the neighborhood that seems to like our house very much. In fact, I just had to go outside and scare it off earlier. It's actually kind of annoying, because when it starts pecking, you can hear it: thump-thump-thump. Thump-thump-thump. And it won't go away, either, until it gets scared off. But even then, it just returns a day or so later. Cool looking bird, poor nasty habit.

And, in other news, in health, we watched the five-minute computer animated video about dedete-ded-etes (or germs). Besides the overall poor animation quality of the video (compared to today's standards, and even some standards back then) and the poor acting, the people who threw it together managed tom misspell scary as "scarey." Wow.

So, besides that, not much is occurring, beside the writing contest at school and me creating my own logo this week. This may or may not be the most interesting post for a while (unless you are utterly captivated by Wikipedia articles), but when I do create an interesting post it'll tell the world via Facebook.

Nothin' much goin' on in my head, so here it is: the weekly Wikipedia article! This week it's the calculus-based math thing, the derivative. That's what's going on in math right now, and as it turns out, it can help me with physics. The sad thing is, however, I'm past the unit in physics in which that can help me.

Wikipedia Article of the Week #4

Ah, my brain is fried. With all the homework I've been doing, my brain is pulsing. I wonder if college will be the same.

Since my brain is fried, here's the point: Wikipedia article of the week. This week, it's the trebuchet, a medieval device for hurling blunt objects at your foes in the hopes that you'll knock a few down. As I am helping build a device similar to this for physics this week, I decided to do this.

Wikipedia Article of the Week #3 and the "Burning" Stake Center

Alright, to begin this week's post, I'm going to start with the traditional Wikipedia Article of the Week. This week, it's the For Dummies series (like Computers for Dummies, Illustrator CS for Dummies, Italy for Dummies). Why is this? Well, yesterday I was doing my AP Physics homework (have I complained about how hard that class is yet?) when I nearly gave up, got my dad to take me to the Barnes & Noble downtown, and we bought 2 books and a pack of 600 SparkNotes flashcards to help me with the homework. I owe my grade to Physics for Dummies. Here's the link:

So about that "burning" stake center. Today was stake conference, and it was all going well and quiet, and the President of BYU Provo was speaking (that guy has a great sense of humor), when the fire alarms start blaring. At first, I though it was an technical issue, until the strobe lights began blinding the entire congregation. Well, it wasn't that bad, but still, they were bright.

Anyways, Elder Cecil Samuelson kept up a great sense of humor, and once the alarms stopped blaring, things went back to normal (except for the strobe lights still flashing). Just to make sure I was clear, there was no fire, probably just some faulty wiring or a little tyke with all too curious hands.

It's a new week, and we all know what that means - A NEW WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE! No, it's not random for two reasons. One, I decided that it'd be more interesting to do articles I thought were interesting. Two, it's my brother's b-day (Happy birthday, Gibs of Earth - you still owe me), so I thought I'd choose an article that he'd like.

Nevertheless, it was still an awesome class.
